More Home Remedies For Common Problems
I've just stumbled across some "new to me" home remedies for common problems. I'll be adding more over the next few days so stay tuned.
Puffy Eyes
Apply cotton balls dipped in ice-cold whole milk or cream for 5-10 minutes.
The reason it works is the high fat content of these liquids provides a moisturizing treatment for the delicate skin around the eyes and helps reduce puffiness. I can even recommend this one if your eyes are swollen due to allergies.
Acne (Haven't tried this one yet, but it blew me away)
Apply a dab of fluoride toothpaste to the blemish and cover with a band aid or other covering overnight.
The reason it works is that fluoride fights the bacteria that causes acne and the calcium carbonate in the toothpaste helps to dry out pimples. They say this remedy will not work for everyone, but it is something to try. If you have sensitive skin, be aware that you can worsen the acne by trying this method.

2 Comments:
For milder cases of acne there are over the counter treatments and other skin care solutions that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. There are also a variety of on-line ordered products that are very effective, such as Proactive. Remember, pregnant women should avoid products that contain salicylic acid, as it can possibly lead to complications during pregnancy or even birth defects. These are to be applied normally after washing, just like with facial acne solutions.
Are you suffering from acne?
If you are suffering from acne then acne: Blend half a spoon of lemon extract and rose water. Applay it on the skin after a gentle facewash. There are chances of an initial searing sensation since citric acid is used here. Wash your face with normal water after leaving it to soak for a while, say 15 to 30 minutes.
