A very clear classification that does not need any introductions, who doesn’t like comedies and the good sense of humor? We have seen many comedy movies in 2013, but personally I did not find any special movies with extraordinary and funny ideas. I found it a normal year characterized by the number of comedies released more than their quality.
This is a list of some good comedy movies that somehow succeeded to put a smile on the viewers’ faces. It’s a top 10 list of comedy movies based on their box office global revenues. Enjoy!
Ranked 10th: Instructions not Included
We start our list of movies with a great Mexican comedy; it made a tremendous job and achieved a huge success. “Instructions not Included” has grossed an international total of (90 million dollars) compared to its modest budget ($ 5 million), making it the most successful film in Spanish, the most successful Mexican film and placed it fourth on the box office list for foreign films in U.S. The film was directed and starring by the Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez.
Ranked 9th: The Internship
Another comedy film bringing together the duo Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in their third appearance together on the big screen, this appearance was not as strong as expected. The film got many critics but genuinely even if the story wasn’t very original but it was good, the sights and the acting weren’t bad at all. The movie didn’t have the success that was expected for it, achieving a global revenue of (91 million dollars) compared to its budget estimated at (58 million dollars). The director of “Night At The Museum” Shawn Levy is the producer and director of this film.
Ranked 8th: Warm bodies
The film deals with zombies in a different way by adding romance, comedy and intimacy to the movie. It is adapted from the novel with the same name, directed and written by Jonathan Levine, who worked hard to make a piece that would not be called “another zombie movie.” The film’s budget was estimated at (35 million dollars) and has achieved a good revenue (116 million dollars) starring of two ascending stars Nicholas Holt and Teresa Palmer.
Ranked 7th: This Is The End
Seth Rogan and Ivan Goldberg first start in world of production was through this film that brought together a large number of famous actors in the world of modern comedy, most notably James Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Barushal, Craig Robinson and of course Seth Rogaine. The film has grossed an international total of (124 million dollars) while its budget was estimated at (32 million dollars). The same crew prepare for the new film “The Interview” that will be released in 2014.
Ranked 6th: Bad Grandpa
Fourth film is from the famous series of films “Jackass” it achieved a great success, reaching global revenues of (142 million dollars) compared to a simple budget estimated at (15 million dollars). These are series of film clips of a hidden camera or something like that; the title of the film is almost talking about it. Johnny Knoxville plays the role of the main character (an old man at the age of 86).
Ranked 5th: Identity Thief
The story begins when Sandy Bigelow Patterson (Jason Bateman) receives a call from Diana Budgie (Melissa McCarthy) who tells him that somebody had tried to steal his identity and asks him to give her his full name, date of birth and his social security number in order to protect his identity from similar attempts in the future, without suspecting the identity of the person in the other end of the line Sandy trusts Diana with his personal information unknowing that his identity is in the processes of being stolen.
The movie has grossed an international total of (173 million dollars) while its budget was estimated at (35 million dollars). Seth Gordon has directed this film, starring of Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy.
Ranked 4th: The Heat
The story of this film is about a special agent from the FBI (Sandra Bullock) hated by her partners in the work because of her arrogant behavior, her director who expects to be promoted for a new job sent her to Boston to search and investigate in the source of drugs under the name of Larkin and gives her a promise to occupy his place if she successfully resolved this issue, and showed the ability to deal with others. In Boston she becomes the partner of a rebelled police officer named Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) and that’s how starts their funny journey full of action to eliminate the king of drugs in the region.
Another film starring by Melissa McCarthy on this list, but with the participation of actress Sandra Bullock. The film has achieved a good success financially and critically reaching global revenues of (229 million dollars), compared with an estimated budget of (43 million dollars). The film was directed by Paul Vij.
Ranked 3rd: Grown Ups 2
The worst movie on this list because of the endless negative reviews that it got, despite the anticipation that has lasted a long time waiting for the second part of the comedy movie to be released. Participates in the starring our usual comedy stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Chris Rock. This comedy movie couldn’t win the viewers’ hearts, but this didn’t stop it from finishing third in our list because of its revenues that reached the (246 million dollars) compared to the budget of (80 million dollars).
Ranked 2nd: We’re The Millers
The story is about the drug dealer David Clark (Jason Sudeikis) who was kidnapped by some criminals, leaving his life at the mercy of his employer and the merchant big Brad Gordlinger (Ed Helms), who asks him to become a smuggler of drugs in a major operation and then he will be pardoned on his previous losses and also lures him away a large amount of money that David couldn’t refuse of course. The plan requires to fake a happy family in order to skip the U.S. – the Mexican borders back and forth, David will use the Strip dancer Rosa O’Reilly (Jennifer Aniston) and one of the children of his neighbors Kenny Rosmor (Will Boltar) in addition to the girl on a run from her parents’ house called Casey Mathis (Emma Roberts) and give themselves a family name “the Millers” as if they were a happy family and traditional Americans. This is the start for series of events in this film.
The film has grossed an international total of (270 million dollars), while its budget was estimated at (37 million dollars) making it one of the very successful movies for the year 2013.
Ranked 1st: The Hangover Part 3
The occupation of the third part of the famous series of films The Hangover for the first place is a surprising and not a surprising thing at the same time. .. Not surprising because of the great success of this series and its fame all over the world, but the part 3 of movie was dramatically disappointing and is actually one of the biggest disappointments of 2013. The movie was made with the biggest budget in our list (103 million dollars) and has grossed an international total of (351 million dollars). Starring of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha and John Goodman.
